As a lot of our friends and family know, Mitch has had kidney problems his whole life. It's finally come to the time where Mitch's body really needed a kidney transplant. Long story short, we've been looking for a donor, and our really good friend Andy said that he would like to be tested. Thankfully after all of the testing, we found out that he was a match! These two boys went in for surgery on the 4th of June. Andy had to be there an hour before us, so I couldn't get any picture of him before the surgery.... Here's my cute boy getting ready for the transplant! He missed a button.... But he's still cute!

The doctors came in to talk to us a little bit, and they were getting ready to put some of the IV's in. All of the doctors were really great, they made sure that we understood everything about the surgery.

I tried to get a picture of him smiling, but he was a little distracted.... All I got was a glimpse.

The doctors finishing up. Luckily they let us stay until the very end, and then they rolled him out of the room to go get his new kidney.

I can't believe how excited Andy was about this whole situation! This was him right after his surgery, and he was so happy and feeling great! I'm so grateful for him as a friend....
Sadly, this is Mitch after his surgery.... While they took Andy to a normal hospital room, they had to take Mitch to the SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit). He was awake, but he wasn't up to talking, or eating, or really anything... Thankfully all of the doctors and nurses in the ICU took really good care of him, and watched over him really well.
Look at all of the wires! All of these were connected to Mitch in some way... That poor boy, he's become a human pin cushion...
Day 2! He was up, in a chair, and actually looking really good! I finally got a couple words out of him on the second day, and things were going really well. His creatinine level went from 6.4 to a 4.2 overnight.... A very good sign!! It kept going down, and the last level I heard was .9! Mitch's mom and I were extremely excited to hear this, Andy's kidney is doing exactly what we need it to! Andy.... You are the best! We love you!

Finally!

Finally! After almost 3 years of dating, we're engaged! Mitch and I decided to try the dating thing again after he got home from his mission, and things just clicked! We've known that we were going to get married since late August, early September, but Mitch finally proposed this last Thursday, 12.3.2009. It all started in the morning. My cute sister-in-law, Kira, was so sweet and dyed my hair for me early that morning, so it was an awesome hair day. And then to top it all off, my outfit was pretty sweet too. I got to work and things were still going really well. Mitch and I had been talking to me all day, but then some questions started popping up, like what I liked on my cheesecake, and if i would maybe stay in my work clothes that night instead of changing into jeans. That got me a little suspicious, but not enough to think too much of it. So I got off around 9 that night, and headed to his house. I called him to let him know that I was close, and he asked me to just come in when I got there. After opening the door, I found a trail of rose petals leading from the door to the stair case, and down the stairs into his basement. He had a cute little table all set up for a candle light dinner, and lit candles all around the room. Long story short, Mitch and I are getting married! We're plannin on the 8th of April, 2010...... So save the date for us please?!!
